Sustainable and Peaceful Family Living – How to Achieve It
Peaceful family living is very much attainable if one knows how to respect individual family members, practice self-discipline and having an open line of communication. When a person wants to live peacefully with their family, this doesn’t mean they are giving everybody in the family a silent treatment. By peaceful living it means living a family life that practice respect for individual differences, knowing when is the right time to interfere with personal issues of other members in the family and of course effective communication.
1. High Regard to Everyone’s Personal Thoughts and Opinions
Knowing when to acknowledge a certain achievement done by one of your family members is a good way of showing you are paying attention to them and you are affectionate too. It is also vital that you respect each member’s ideas and even their personal belongings. For instance, if someone feels vexed or they feel lonely then don’t just shrug it off. It is vital that to ask them why and if they are ready to open up just listen to their problems. Even if they’ll share their problems you are not really entitled to fix it, what they need is someone who can understand where they’re coming from.
Another way of showing respect is to be courteous in what you do. Those simple greetings like thanks and please is already a sign that you are acknowledging their help and presence. You can even ask them how did their day turn out and just listen to what they are sharing.
Keep in mind that being respectful of one’s ideas doesn’t mean you will always nod your head and agree with them. Everyone has their own idea so perhaps you can also share your thoughts about a certain topic. Sometimes your children might have this wonderful ideas and listening to them can be good as well however this is not the case all the time. Sometimes what they really need is guidance and the wisdom of adults who have longer experience whenever their ideas are not that really good after all experience is the best teacher. The way children see this world is entirely different. Learning something doesn’t always mean you have to listen from a more knowledgeable person, people with the same age as yours sometimes listening to your kids is a good avenue for learning. It is also a good thing if you are able to explain why a particular concept will not do good but nonetheless you can let them explore and apply their ideas as long as it won’t harm them.
Seemingly, many people seemed to forget age when they talk to a person older than them or younger than them thus it is really important to practice respect for one another within the family. One of the common reasons why people don’t bother listening to what others has to say is that they feel like the ideas they have are just senseless and absurd. Those people have their entire lifetime to experience this one but it would be best if respect is practiced within your family after all parents are the children’s first teachers.
